June 2018
Greece is gorgeous!
This was the front door view from our room on Mykonos. Chelsea had to fly back to the states to resume her interior design classes, so it was just Webb and I in Greece.
This beach club, Scorpios, was awesome. Incredible views and great music at night. We made new Russian friends, Webb’s friend really liked him.
We were on Mykonos in June, which is early peak season. Yet it never felt crowded. We were often the only people on the street, but then everybody came out at night. The nightlife on Mykonos is some of the best in the world.
After of few days of partying on Mykonos and catching the sun-rise 3 days in a row, we were ready for a few low-key days. So we took a ferry ride to Paros and spent a few days on this little island.
Lots of great seafood. Including fresh octopus.
This is a little fort protecting the port.
Wake-boarding in Greece was certainly a highlight. Nice water and incredible views. Webb did a great job his first time out.
We rented mopeds and spent two days beach hoping. This was a life highlight for sure. We got so spoiled, rolling up to beautiful beaches, deciding we could do better, and going off to go find another spot.
This was the view from our lunch table at a little restaurant by the cliffs. Feta cheese, Greek salad, fish, and a dog. The food was delicious, the company even better.
The highest point on the island of Paros.
Such a class act, it went south pretty fast.
Sunset dinner.
This was such a strange little alley. We went under this bridge everyday getting into town.
Beautiful old Greek Church.
Some friends we made from Amsterdam invited us to swim at their hotel. This was a very nice way to spend our last afternoon on Paros.
This is a view from our ferry ride to Athens where we would spend our last two days of travel.
The changing of the guard at the Palace.
Temple of Zeus with the Acropolis in the background.
Olympic Stadium. This is where the first modern Olympics were held in 1896. Fourteen countries participated.
My dad proposed to my mom on the Acropolis. I decided to follow in his footsteps. She said “yes,” but it didn’t work out. Have not seen her since my proposal.
This is the Parthenon, temple of Athena, on the Acropolis, in the heart of Athens. Back is the day, these temples were brightly painted.
This cafe below the Acropolis had amazing food and a pretty cool cat.
Greece is a wonderful place. Beautiful landscape, delicious food, friendly people, and lots of history. This was the end of my summer travels. Next stop Germany to start working at summer camp before the school year begins.
