October 2019
This post begins with Volksfest. It is pretty much the same thing as Octoberfest, but a bit smaller and in Stuttgart. It is a big fair with huge party tents.
The following weekend I went to Budapest, which is certainly one of the best cities in Europe.
The Central market, it is filled with vendors selling all sort of foods, spices, cloths, and nic-nacs. Lots of paprika.
Interesting underground church.
Budapest was once two separate cities, Buda and Pest. Buda is to my back and Pest on the right. Go to Buda for more history and art, and Pest for more nightlife and fun.
Hungarian Parliament Building.
Fisherman’s Bastion
Saw an advert to drive a tank, it was not even a decision. This place has all sorts of old Soviet weapons you can play with. While I was there, there was a French film crew shooting a documentary about how Budapest recycles its history to make it a fun and exciting place to be. I would run into these guys later that night.
The handles are actually brakes that you use to turn the tank. This tank could really move and I felt pretty awesome driving it.
This was originally the international airport for Budapest and is now used for office space, including for the Cold War Park guys with the tanks and guns.
Decided to keep the solider thing going.
The Museum of Fine Arts is in a nice park and well worth a visit.
This is one of the Ruin Bars. They were bombed buildings that have been converted into pretty wild and fun bars.
Made friends with some English girls in Budapest for a Hen (bachelorette) Party.
These are the French guys making the documentary on Budapest. Between them and the Hens it was a really fun night.
The following weekend, I went back to the nice little German city of Baden–Baden in the Black Forest. It is a beautiful place known for all natural mineral spas and a fancy casino.
Nice place to loose money.
