Northern Germany: Berlin, Rügen, Schwerin

July 2020

July was a bitter sweet month. Bitter in that I would soon have to leave Germany, and sweet because I had four weeks to travel freely throughout the country.

I returned to Berlin to visit some friends who moved to the capital city from Stuttgart. Berlin is grittier than the rest of Germany and appeals to many unique people. You can certainly find some interesting characters walking the streets.

Berlin has the best beaches.

Checkpoint Charlie. Where America goes, McDonald’s follows.

From Berlin we headed to the German island of Rügen on the Baltic Sea.

Rented E-bikes for the first time to cruise around the island. They can make biking effortless and that was helpful because we had to put them on turbo mode to make it back in time.

Different style seeing the beach through the pine trees.

I really hope I make this.

Glad I did.

Happy to still have a drink after a seagull enjoyed my lo mein noodles.

From Rügen we headed to the small northern city of Schwerin for a night. They have a great castle.

Important to support local electrical boxes.

That is where we were in case you are wondering.

Hercules taking the Cretan bull by the horns for this 7th labor.

Schwerin is another lovely little city in Germany.
